Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation

Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation was formally established by Statutory Instrument on 29 October 2003, following a period of public consultation.

Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation aims to:

• Create new employment opportunities, enabling local people to access jobs;
• Ensure new housing, leisure and social facilities are available, to encourage people to live and work in the area;
• Bring land and buildings into effective use;
• Provide new infrastructure connecting Thurrock's diverse communities;
• Deliver an attractive urban and rural environment, focusing on access and high quality design.

Specifically, the Development Corporation has been tasked by Government to help create the right conditions that will generate and support the development of new homes and jobs, in the period up to 2021.
