A to Z index - Smokefree Thurrock

From summer 2007, new laws will make it illegal to light up in places such as shops and offices, factories and warehouses, pubs and clubs, cafes and restaurants. At work, smoking inside will become a thing of the past and indoor smoking rooms will no longer be allowed, so anyone wishing to smoke will have to go outside instead. Smoking on public transport and in work vehicles used by more than one person will also be prohibited.

Thurrock Council's Environmental Health Service and the South West Essex Primary Care Trust are running a campaign to inform residents and businesses about the changes. The campaign is designed to help those in charge of workplaces to comply with the new rules through a series of media articles and adverts, seminars and information packs. We want the transition to 'Going Smoke Free' to be as easy as possible whilst also promoting local support services for staff and others who want to stop smoking.
