Thurrock Council is committed to tackling anything that spoils the look of our towns, villages and neighbourhoods... and we want your help. Our aim is tell everyone in the borough, from children to the elderly, how they can work with us to improve the environment. Thurrock Council has powers to hand out fines, from on-the-spot penalties for dropping litter, to £20,000 fines for fly-tipping. Enough is enough - if you mess with Thurrock, you'll pay the price.
There is a tiny minority of people who think it's acceptable to litter our streets, abandon wrecked cars or dump their old fridge in a hedgerow. This will not be tolerated.
Our focus is on:
If you see anyone dropping litter, fly-tipping, fly-posting stickers or posters, abandoning a car - or doing anything to spoil our streets, we want to know about it. These people are wasting taxpayers' money - your money. Thurrock Council has clean-up teams on stand-by to clean up your area. But we also want to know who is responsible. We'll hit them with heavy fines, so hopefully next time they'll think again.
The Green Organisation is an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting best practice around the world.
