1000 Days To Go - Special Community Grants

Grant closed at present - look out for new dates.

We are marking 1000 days to the Olympics and Paralympics with a special community grants programme, and you are invited to take part.

It is all about embracing the values and cultural dimensions of the games - excellence, respect and friendship - reflected in Thurrock's own motto:

'By Thames to all the peoples of the world'

Join us in to celebrating all that is best about Thurrock by bringing people from our diverse communities together.

1000 days to go is a new community grant programme aimed at bringing people from our diverse communities together by embracing the values and cultural dimensions of the 2012 games. The guidance leaflet and application form linked below should give you all the information you need to get started.

All applications will be considered against the criteria set out in the guidance leaflet, and decisions taken on the 10th of each month. Funding can only be awarded to a charity, or community or voluntary organisation that has a constitution and an organisational bank account. If you are not part of a group that can apply, it is likely that another organisation such as your local Community Forum could do so on your behalf.

Application forms should be completed in full and signed by the main contact for the application and by your group's Chairperson or another committee member. Please discuss your application with your organisation before submitting. All applications must be received by 28th February 2010 latest.

Grant recipients will need to keep a record of how funds are used, and to provide information including photographs, quotes from participants, and information about who got involved, to demonstrate the project's impact. Evaluation of this round of funding will help inform future programmes.

We are keen to promote successful projects as examples of good practice and welcome all ideas for bringing people together in celebration of the spirit of the games, so do tell us your ideas even if you are not applying.

For any further information or support, please contact our Funding Officer on 01375 413957 or by email via community@thurrock.gov.uk
