Cllr Maureen Pearce
Born in Thurrock Councillor Maureen Pearce has lived most of her life in the Borough and attended three schools in Thurrock, Beynon Infants and Junior School and Culver House School for Girls which was in South Ockendon. She has three grown up children, two daughters, Tracey and Karen aged 45 and 38 respectively and a son, Neil who is aged 30. She also has 5 grandchildren whose ages range from 3 to 16. Councillor Pearce has been a Ward councillor for Stifford Clays since 2004 and during her term of office as Mayor is particularly interested in meeting the elderly residents of Thurrock and voluntary groups. Her interests include gardening, reading, collecting ornamental plates, and looking after her pets. She is a keen member of the Aveley Social Club and enjoys meeting with residents. Councillor Pearce is looking forward to serving the Borough during her year of office and will endeavour to raise funds for her two chosen charities, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Little Haven's Hospice. The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress are Councillor Eddie Hardiman and Ms. Marian Mestanek. The Mayor's Chaplain is the Rector of St. Mary's Church, North Stifford, the Reverend Andy Higgs.
