The Culver Centre - Professional Development Centre

  1. The hirer is the person who signs the booking form and shall be responsible for the payment of the charges and fulfilment of the Terms & Conditions.
  2. The Council require that a caretaker be on duty during all periods of centre opening.
  3. The Council reserves the right to refuse any booking and to enter the premises on production of Council Officer identification.
  4. The right is reserved to cancel any hiring (without notice) where the Council consider it necessary to do so in consequence of any outbreak of infectious disease, civil emergency or for any other cause outside their control. In the event of any hiring being cancelled, no charges will be made to the hirer, but the Council shall not be held liable or pay compensation as a result of the cancellation of the hiring.
  5. The hirer is responsible for the preservation of good order during the hiring, and for any loss or damage suffered to the Council or premises and other property of the Council arising out of the hiring during the time the premises are hired, whether by persons attending the premises or by vehicles or otherwise, and agrees to pay the cost of reinstatement, or repair as certified by the Council.
    1. The Council will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered by the hirer when it is not possible to use the accommodation by reason of accident, force, strike, lockout or other like cause, or by failure of the heating, lighting or electrical apparatus or facilities.
    2. The hirer shall indemnify the Council and their officers in respect of all actions, injury, accident, loss or theft, damage to property, costs, claims, damages, penalties, and expenses in any way connected to the hiring or which may be sustained or suffered in consequence of the hiring.
  6. No nails, tacks, screws, Blutack or other fixing, shall be driven into any walls, floors ceilings, furniture or fittings except for notice boards. No alterations are to be made to the fabric of the building, fixed plant, electrical equipment, ICT, alarm and access systems.
  7. Intoxicating Liquor shall not be consumed on the premises. No person shall give any exhibition, demonstration or performance of hypnotism in connection with an entertainment, nor use the premises for gaming purposes.
  8. The hirer shall vacate the premises by the end time of the booking, and leave the space hired, fixtures and fittings and furniture in as good order and as clean a condition as they were at the time of entry. The Hirer must remove their belongings on the day of hire of the premises, or (if permission is obtained in advance) by 12 noon on the following day. In the event of any article being left on the premises, the Council shall be entitled to remove the same and the cost shall be paid by the Hirer.
  9. Rooms other than those specifically hired are not available for use. Café and other rooms shall not be used except with the approval of the Manager. It is a condition of use that where the kitchen is hired, a catering employee is present and paid by the Hirer (out of usual opening hours). During evening and weekend bookings, the unhired part of the premises will be locked off. Furniture shall not be moved except by prior arrangement.
  10. The Hirer shall not, during occupancy of the premises infringe any copyright or performing right, and hereby indemnifies the Council against all claims which the Council may have to pay for infringement of copyright or performing right occurring during the period of hire.
  11. All charges must be paid within 30 days from the date of invoice. Prices published for external users are exclusive of VAT.
  12. Hirers can cancel or postpone bookings providing a minimum of five working days notice is given in writing (usually by email) to avoid full cost. Please note an email cancellation confirmation will be sent to you as proof of cancellation. In the event of any disagreement over whether or not a booking has been cancelled, your proof of confirmation will be requested.
  13. If the Hirer commits a breach of any of these regulations, the right is reserved by the Council to terminate the hiring forthwith and to refuse any further hiring of these premises.
  14. All relevant sections of the current Children Acts must be strictly complied with, and it will be incumbent on the Hirer to ensure that this is the case. (For information purposes, Site Services staff are CRB checked.)
  15. Vehicles must only be parked in the marked bays. There is to be no parking on grassed areas, adjacent to fire-exits, yellow hatched areas, or on access ways marked with bollards.
  16. In the interests of food hygiene and temperature standards, all catering must be ordered from our in-house catering facility.
  17. Provisional Bookings: Normally provisional bookings will be held for 7 days, except where special circumstances exist when they can be held for up to one calendar month after discussion with bookings team.
  18. Commercial companies should by virtue of their activities, size, operations etc., hold public liability insurance and be able to extend their policies to cover events held at hired facilities. Their policy should have a limit of indemnity of at least £5 million.
