The Cabinet
The Authority's Cabinet is responsible for most day-to-day decisions. The Cabinet is made up of the Leader and a number of Members appointed by the Council. When major decisions are to be discussed or made, they are published in the Cabinet's Forward Plan so far as they can be anticipated.
Cabinet Meetings will generally be open to the public except where personal or confidential matters are being discussed. The Cabinet has to make decisions that are in line with the Council's overall policies and Budget. If it wishes to make a decision that is outside the Budget or Policy Framework, this must be referred to the Council as a whole to decide.
This executive function of the Council works in a close relationship with the overview and scrutiny process.
