The Chief Executive & Directors' Board

The Chief Executive is responsible for the management of the council's staff, services and operations, as well as setting the strategic direction for the authority and its partners with elected councillors.

He or she is the statutory "Head of the Paid Service" at the council.

The Chief Executive ensures decisions made by councillors are implemented and that services are run efficiently and effectively.

Directors' Board is made up of the Chief Executive and corporate directors. They work together and closely with councillors so that the cost of services is kept to a minimum and the quality of services is improving.

They evaluate performance across all areas of the council's services and interpret and deliver national initiatives and policies from the Government.

Directors support managers and staff in the development and delivery of services and liaise with partners and regional organisations.

Information on senior management salaries can be found in our Open Data section.
