Promoting Diversity - Fighting Intolerance
Shared responsibilityEvery individual working with Thurrock Council, whether an officer, Member of the Council or a partnership body is responsible for progressing our commitment to diversity. This responsibility must be mainstreamed through team meetings, supervision and performance management frameworks. Managers are responsible for ensuring that team meetings include diversity considerations, and that the Council's commitment to diversity is a central aspect of how services are delivered and how people are managed. Each officer must ensure that they demonstrate through their work the appropriate attitudes and behaviours, which are needed to progress our commitment to diversity. Community involvementOur Corporate Equality Group (CEG) brings together all key stakeholders in a single group to ensure that the commitments of the Council are delivered and progress reviewed against the various statutory schemes and the Corporate Equality Plan (CEP). The group includes:
The Cabinet portfolio holder and the Corporate Director with responsibility for Diversity chair the group, with membership from officers within each directorate and Heads of Service.
