You cannot apply for a uniform grant for a child attending primary school.

Uniform Grants can be paid twice for pupils in Secondary School. This can be paid in Years 7 and 9 or 10, or in Years 7 or 8 and 10. A payment will not be made two years in a row. It is your responsibility to advise the Awards & Benefits Team of a change in your circumstances.

How to Apply

If your child is not currently receiving free school meals please be aware you may need to supply evidence to support your claim if we are unable to check your entitlement via our free school meals Eligibility Checking System (ECS). We will contact you if we require benefit evidence.

Year 6 pupils can put in a claim for Uniform Grants once the end of the academic year has passed. Awards and Benefits will accept forms during June and July in order to return payments before the beginning of the next academic year, usually in August.

Uniforms grant applications made throughout the year will be processed by Awards and Benefits, before being passed through our finance procedures and sent out to your address. Please be prepared to wait up to three weeks from the initial date of application for your uniform grant to the date of payment.
