Thurrock Youth Service

What is the Youth Service?

The Youth Service delivers informal education programmes through a wide-ranging curriculum that facilitates personal and social development. Programmes are delivered through centres, schools and projects throughout Thurrock. The target age group for our work is 13-19 years, including some work with up to 25 year olds.

Youth Services are delivered through seven static sites that include four Youth Development Centres and three Youth Centres, which are the main delivery points for a range of programmes.

Outreach work is undertaken with young people in a further six communities, including special events and activities during each school holiday period, organised with young people and youth workers.

The Service Delivers

Youth work takes place in a range of settings across Thurrock. Our curriculum framework ensures that our programme offers to meet the needs of young people, working to support young people to achieve the five outcomes:

  • Being healthy
  • Staying safe
  • Enjoying and achieving
  • Making a positive contribution
  • Achieving economic well being
