What is the Electoral Register?

The electoral register is a list of all the people in Thurrock who are eligible to vote in elections. This is separated into the twenty wards in the Borough and laid out in alphabetical street order. If your name is not on the register then you are not entitled to vote.

Annual Canvass

The annual canvass of every household in Thurrock will commence in August 2010. This is a statutory requirement. You will receive a form around 10th August asking you to:

  1. confirm your details as printed or
  2. make changes to the persons listed as living in the household (including name changes or deleting persons who have moved)
  3. add any new persons living in the household or
  4. add persons who are 17 and will be turning 18 between 1 December 2010 and 30 November 2011.

If the property is empty or no-one is eligible to vote you will also be asked to confirm this information. Please return this form promptly, as reminders cost money. You may return the form by post if you have made an amendment to the form. Alternatively, if you have no changes to make, please use the telephone or internet registration lines.

Following the annual canvass of 2010, the revised register of Electors will be published on 1 December 2010. Details can be updated monthly if you move address or change your name from this date onwards. Registration forms are available on our Download Forms page.
