What is the Community Chest?

Thurrock Community Chest is a registered charity that promotes and supports local good causes and community groups.

Our mission

"To establish, maintain and develop a fund to be used to improve the quality of life for the people of Thurrock."

To achieve this we will:

Encourage groups and individuals of all ages and abilities to excel in academic, sporting and artistic fields and to fulfil their true potential.

Support Thurrock based voluntary and community groups that work hard providing vital services and support for the local community.

Build and maintain strong links with the local business community and the voluntary sector.

We have a special working relationship with St. Luke's Hospice (www.stlukeshospice.com).

Complaints

In the event of a complaint by a customer about any aspect of the Thurrock Community Chest licensed activities:

• Thurrock Community Chest's representative will refer the complaint directly to the Thurrock Community Chest Trustees and will be discussed at the next Trustee's meeting and recorded. If the Trustee is unable to resolve the customer's complaint a detailed written record of the complaint will be logged and the matter passed as a dispute to the responsible named persons detailed on the operating license (Carl Morris/Bruce Vickers).
• Failure to reach a resolution at this stage will result in the customer's dispute being referred in writing to an independent arbitrator - i.e. the Charity Commission. The final decision made by the arbitrator will be binding on both the customer and the licensee. A detailed record will be kept of the dispute and its outcome.
