St. Michael's Church, Aveley

Monuments and Tombstone Inscriptions - compiled by M.D.Bonfield

Foreword

The document that this publication is based on was first generated in 1950 by Mr George Martin. Lengthy research has resulted in the updated version before you. Over time, some monuments and inscriptions have eroded; or in some unfortunate circumstances; suffered from vandalism. This means that some inscriptions included within are no longer visible or remaining.

Main effort was concentrated in the churchyard, in an attempt to provide an accurate map and directory of grave locations and inscriptions.

Acknowledgements

I would like to thank Thurrock Libraries for their initial help, Thurrock Museum, Mr Demus Lee (Church Warden) and the St. Michael's church staff, Thurrock Council and the people of Aveley. Also, thanks to my family and friends for their on-going support.

I hope this publication is of help to you in finding the grave locations of family members, and the inscriptions that were dedicated to them.
