The Council's environmental health service is responsible for dealing with a wide variety of situations that could be a risk to public health. These can include complaints about pests, derelict buildings and defective private drainage. Environmental Health staff investigate allegations of statutory nuisance. This is where conditions are judged as being prejudicial to health or interfering with the comfort and enjoyment of a someone's property and can include accumulations of rubbish, the keeping animals, smoke and odour complaints.
