The Housing Allocations Scheme sets out how the council allocates its housing stock.
The demand for social housing far outstrips the numbers of properties available so the council must give priority to those with greatest need. This means that for most households the chances of being offered a property by the council are extremely low and other housing options should be considered.
The council has a 'closed waiting list', which means that only applicants who meet certain criteria can join. The Housing Allocation Scheme sets out the rules and processes by which this will be managed.
