  3. Disturbance allowance for tenants affected by property demolitions

Where the demolition of nearby property causes disturbance to tenants in Thurrock Council properties, the council may pay a disturbance allowance in compensation for the disruption while the demolition work is taking place. This would generally only be where scaffolding was blocking out light to living areas or where the work involved excessive dust and noise.

  4. Tenants responsibilities for vacated properties

The tenant is responsible for arranging for meter reading and disconnection of supplies of gas/electricity and for handing in the keys of the vacated property. Thurrock Council will liaise closely with the tenants throughout this process and provide advice and support relevant to the circumstances.
