Taster Sessions

Information Technology (I.T.) taster sessions are run by Thurrock Libraries for people who would like to begin to use a computer. We have trained nearly 4000 older people. Thurrock Libraries run the following tasters:

• Wiser for IT (sessions for beginners over 50).
• IT for young parents who want to return to work.
• Bite Back at the Credit Crunch - to help people back at work. We offer CV writing, interview skills and PowerPoint sessions
• Facebook and Twitter sessions
• Digital Photography

Our I.T. Tasters are organised into five sessions (two hours per week for five weeks).

Guidelines for organising and running sessions

We provide guidelines to the people who organise and run the sessions:

• Facilitator guidelines
• Library manager or supervisor guidelines
• People's Network Manager guidelines

Other Computer Taster Sessions

We do offer other computer taster sessions e.g.

• Designing greeting/invitation cards.
• Scanning, photocopying, and laminating documents.
• Using a digital camera and downloading pictures.
• Designing Xmas Cards, posters and leaflets and sending them by attachment.

We also have popular half term activities available from time to time e.g. designing your own web sites (school children aged 10-16).
