A 'designated public place' is somewhere that has been specified in a Designated Public Place Order (a DPPO) made by a local authority. This gives additional powers to the Police and other designated persons to require those drinking alcohol in a designated public place to stop doing so. It also gives them powers to seize any open or unopened containers of alcohol from individuals in the designated place. Failure to comply with these orders is a criminal offence which could lead to arrest and prosecution.
The public places in Balstonia Recreation Ground and Corringham town centre, in the area enclosed by Springhouse Road and Gordon Road, including St John's Way and Grover Walk but not the area immediately surrounding Berwood road.
