How Do I Make A Payment?

There are several different methods by which you can make payments to Thurrock Council.


By Direct Debit

This method of payment applies to Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates only

If you wish to pay by Direct Debit, please telephone the Council Tax section on (01375) 652875. Alternatively, you can download and print a copy of the Council Tax Direct Debit Form from our 'Find a Form' page. The form includes helpful advice and supporting information.

By Post

You can pay by sending a cheque, money order or postal order (payable to "Thurrock Borough Council") to:

Please enclose any payment slips if provided (Rents, Sundry Debtors) and quote your reference number on the back of any cheques.

If a payment slip is not provided and a postal order is used, please enclose a note of the payment reference number.

Do not send cash by post.

In Person

You can pay at the Cashiers, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00am to 4:30pm.

Or you can pay using the Automatic Till Machines (ATM) in the following Local Offices:

By Credit/Debit Card

The Council accepts some credit and debit cards.

You can pay via our Cashiers service, either by visiting in person between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, or by telephoning on (01375) 652127 between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm Monday to Friday, 9:00am and midday Saturday.

Note: an administrative charge of 2% will be made for credit card transactions.

By the Internet

This method of payment applies to Council Tax, Rents, Non-Domestic Rates and Sundry Debtors only

You can make payments via the Internet using the Alliance & Leicester BillPay service.

By Standing Order

This method of payment applies to Council Tax, Rents, Non-Domestic Rates only
