Nearly all primary pupils to attend one of their top choice schools

The vast majority of children across Thurrock will start their school journey in September 2024 at one of their parent or guardians top 3 primary school choices.
From 2,350 applications, over 97% of children will have been offered one their top 3 places. 89% of applicants this year have been offered their first choice of primary school.

Primary school places announced for September 2023

Figures released today, Monday 17 April, show that the vast majority of children across Thurrock will receive one of their top 3 primary school choices for the September 2023 academic year.
From 2,311 applications, over 98% of children will have been offered one their top 3 places. 92% of applicants this year have been offered their first choice of primary school, an increase from 88% first choices offered in 2022.

New primary school and nursery to be built in Aveley

Planning permission for the construction of a new, government-funded primary school and nursery in Aveley has been approved.
Harrier Primary School, which is due to be built on land adjacent to the A13 and Love Lane in Aveley, was agreed at Planning Committee on Thursday 9 June.
The new school will provide spaces for up to 420 prospective primary students and 52 nursery places. An open date of September 2023 is currently targeted, with a reception class of 30 pupils. The admission of new pupils will then increase year-on-year until the school has filled each year group.
