Enforcement officers win Police awards

Thurrock Council's enforcement officers have won 2 Essex Police awards in recognition of the outstanding work they do to tackle and prevent anti-social behaviour.
The team picked up a Certificate of Recognition for their outstanding contribution and a Long Service Award at the first ever Community Safety Accreditation Scheme Awards, which took place at Essex Police headquarters on Tuesday 26 September.
The Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) allows the Chief of Essex Police to designate extra powers to non-police officers working in a community safety role.

Magistrates' appearance leads to "hefty fine" for littering

A man who refused to pay an on-the-spot littering fine after Thurrock Council's Environmental Enforcement Officers saw him dropping a cigarette end in Grays will now have to pay out £741 in fines and costs after being found guilty at Basildon Magistrates Court.
Thomas Fedotovas, of Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon, appeared before magistrates on Friday 13 May, where he was ordered to pay a £207 fine, £500 costs and a victim surcharge of £34 for littering.
