Communities in Thurrock are celebrating a funding award of over £166,000 from the European Social Fund.

In partnership with the Learning and Skills Council, Thurrock Council's Early Years Team will use the funding to develop the 'Wishes Project' in Children's Centres in Aveley, Ockendon, West Thurrock and Tilbury.

Sue Green, Thurrock Council's Principal Education Officer for Early Years, said: "The Wishes project will develop service hubs for adults, families, local childcare providers, local training and education providers, JobCentre Plus and other key agencies. This will mean that local people can easily access vital services that benefit them, their families and the community."

"Watch out for leaflets in your area detailing how everyone can get involved."

The council's Early Years team is also responsible for the Children's Information Service, offering free impartial advice and guidance on choosing childminders, pre-schools, nurseries or choosing childcare as a career. Contact them on 01375 652801.
