News Archive - 100s of new books arriving

Hundreds of brand new books are going to be distributed across Thurrock this week by Thurrock Council's Libraries team.

The team, who regularly update Thurrock's stock of library books, have been holding on to the last few deliveries so residents can enjoy a bumper summer of books.

Some of the latest titles like autobiographies on model Kate Moss and TV presenter Simon Cowell will be available to borrow along with a history book on the Roman Empire by Boris Johnson MP and even the latest tips on Turkish cookery.

The books will go on special display at the Borough's libraries for a limited time over the next few weeks.

The will split up under various categories such 'Against The Odds', 'Green And Hairy' and 'Pure Indulgence' to name but three of the 12 categories that will now be appearing in libraries across Thurrock.

Councillor Gareth Davies, Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Central Services, said: "If anyone ever needed an extra incentive to get down to their local library than this is it.
"The shelves are always stocked with the best books but these latest additions are the icing on the cake.

"Why not bring your family down and enjoy the Summer Reads for the children and select a brand new book for yourself?"
