Stifford Clays councillor, Diana Hale was amazed when she heard what one of her constituents had done.
Vera Vine had wanted to catch a bus from Stifford Clays on a Sunday - but she had problems.
Cllr Hale explained: "There are very few, if any buses through the area on a Sunday or public holiday and even evenings. You can't even get a bus into Grays or to Lakeside and then move on elsewhere.
"Vera, a pensioner, got so angry she decided to do something about it. She got on a bus to Grays, in the week of course, and asked passengers and people waiting for buses to sign a petition. She'd never done anything like it before.
"Vera got around 130 people to sign up, so there's obviously a lot of feeling about this lack of service and I was proud to present it at the last meeting of the council."
