Thurrock Councillors discussed last Wednesday's (30 November) national strike at Thursday (1 December) evening's meeting of full council.

A motion - proposed by Cllr Danny Nicklen - stated: "This council does not endorse the union strike action held on November 30 and regrets the inconvenience this caused to Thurrock's residents, including the movement of the council meeting."

A vigorous debate followed before the motion was passed 19-16.
