The Development Control Division assesses planning applications for permission to carry out new development or change the use of land within the borough. This includes:
A Planning Advice Officer is available at the Civic Offices ground floor reception to provide planning advice from 9.15am until 3.15pm Monday to Friday. The Advice Officer can advise on 'permitted development', explain current planning applications to inquirers, explain the planning process and provide leaflets and application forms. They are not able to advise whether planning permission will or will not be granted but can explain the written pre-application advice service.
Permitted development rights changed on 1 October 2008. As a guide we have produced a number of householder permitted developments information factsheets for some common projects.
