Strategic Environmental Planning

The Strategic Environmental Planning Division deals with all planning matters concerning the natural and built environment. This includes:

  • Carrying out measures to ensure the conservation of individual buildings, and areas, of historic to architectural importance.
  • Responding to requests for advice on historic building conservation.
  • Carrying out measures to ensure the conservation of wildlife habitats, such as the designation of Local Nature Reserves and the carrying out of environmental improvement schemes.
  • Advising on the quality of trees and preserving the best.
  • Management of Country parks and promoting opportunities within them for countryside recreation and the raising of environmental awareness.
  • The management of areas of open spaces for informal countryside recreation.
