Social Care services in Thurrock are designed to give you more freedom in the way you live. We want to help you make independent choices, putting you in control of your own care. After all you are the expert about you.

Helping you help yourself

Our web pages will help you work out what services and support you need, and find out what is available in and around your community. The council, health agencies, voluntary organisations, charities and community support groups have all the right services to help you get on top of your situation.

Here to help

Even though you will be given the choice of buying your own services, the council will support you in the following ways:

• provide advice and information on available support so that you can make informed choices when making your own arrangements;
• provide support to help you identify the support you need;
• help you develop your ideas about the support you may need;
• help you plan your support;
• arrange the support for you if you are unable to do this.
