Dartford Crossing - Local Resident Scheme

The Dartford - Thurrock River Crossing is one of Europe's most heavily used crossings and complex traffic management systems. Spanning the Thames between Dartford and Thurrock, the Crossing forms a vital link in the M25, Britain's most important orbital road.

A toll is payable for using the crossing but Thurrock residents are eligible for the DART Tag Local Resident Scheme.

Local Resident Scheme

The Local Resident Scheme offers a significant discount on the crossing charge for cars to those residents who can confirm their eligibility.

You are eligible for a Local Resident DART Tag account if you pay your council tax to either Thurrock Council or Dartford Council.

How to apply

In order to open a Local Resident DART-Tag account you can apply in either of the following ways:

  1. Visit the DART Tag: The Local Resident Scheme web page to download and print a copy of the application form; or
  2. Visit the DART tag offices (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm), the offices are located on the Kent side of the crossing, just off of junction 1a.
