Thurrock is situated on the c2c railway line running between Shoeburyness and London Fenchurch Street.
c2c rail has 26 stations in total, seven of which are in Thurrock: Stanford-le-Hope, East Tilbury, Tilbury Town, Grays, Purfleet, Chafford Hundred and Ockendon.
From Shoeburyness in the east, services travel westward via Southend to Pitsea, where they enter Thurrock on the 'Tilbury loop', stopping at Stanford-le-Hope, East Tilbury, Tilbury Town and Grays. From Grays, services proceed either south via Purfleet to Rainham, Dagenham Dock, Barking, West Ham, Limehouse and Fenchurch Street, or north via Chafford Hundred (for Lakeside Shopping Centre) and Ockendon, to Upminster, Barking and onwards.
