Expanded retail discount and nursery discount

Discounts are provided to eligible businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors under the expanded retail discount scheme and to nurseries on the Ofsted Early Years Register under the nursery discount scheme.

Eligible businesses will receive a:

  • 100% business rates discount from 1 April 2021 to 30 June 2021
  • 66% business rates discount from 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2022

Bills were originally issued in March 2021 showing 100% discount for the 2021/22 financial year. Revised bills show the 66% discount and balance due from 1 July 2021 to 31 March 2022. The bills will show the instalments payable from 10 July 2021.

The discounts from 1 July 2021 are subject to cash cap limits. For further information, go to GOV.UK: business rates expanded retail discount and GOV.UK: business rates nursery (childcare) discount.

Accounts where cash caps may be applicable have had a further adjusted bill and will show instalments payable from 10 August 2021.

Complete the form below to confirm your eligibility for expanded retail discount or nursery discount on all eligible properties.

If you do not complete the form below, it could result in these discounts being removed and a further bill being issued for the full amount of business rates.
