Citizenship, nationality and proof of life

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – citizenship ceremonies

Group and private citizenship ceremonies can take place during the national restrictions from 5 November to 2 December. If you had previously been advised that your ceremony has been postponed, we will be contacting you to reschedule. Please do not contact us – we are calling everyone in turn as soon as we can.

You must not come to the Register Office if you or anyone in your household has symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19). All visitors must follow government social distancing guidance and safety requests from staff.

Proof of life

If you are a British national receiving a pension from an overseas country, we can validate the pension company's request for confirmation of your life and residence in the UK.

Email the Register Office to make an appointment.

When you arrive for your appointment you must bring:

  • the form to be stamped, already fully completed – we cannot advise on how to complete the form
  • an English language translation of the form if it is in another language
  • a valid passport or driver's license
  • a valid proof of address – for example, a council tax bill or bank statement

The fee for this service is £35.
