Have your say on planning policy statements of community of involvement

A Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) says how people can get involved in the planning process and have a say on how the area will develop. We are consulting on draft SCI documents for Thurrock and for south Essex.

Have your say on statements of community involvement. Comments must be received by 5pm, Monday 27 January 2020.

About the Core Strategy

The Core Strategy and Policies for Management of Development (Core Strategy) is our main local plan document. It sets out the spatial vision, strategy and planning policies for Thurrock on topics such as:

  • housing
  • jobs
  • green belt
  • community facilities
  • education and health
  • sports and leisure
  • open space
  • climate change
  • minerals and waste

The Core Strategy was originally adopted on 21 December 2011 and subsequently updated on 28 January 2015, following an independent examination of our Core Strategy focused review document on consistency with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

Use our online policies map to find which Core Strategy policies apply to different areas of Thurrock.

The Core Strategy will remain our adopted statutory planning document for the borough until the new Local Plan is adopted.
