Design guide for planning

Our Thurrock Design Guide is a collection of planning documents that will be used to improve the design quality of all new developments that need planning permission. It will also strengthen Thurrock's identity as a place.

Growth and ambition

Thurrock has one of the largest, most ambitious growth programmes in the UK. Investment of over £6billion will help to create more than 26,000 new jobs and up to 30,000 new homes within just 20 years.

With so many people choosing Thurrock as a place to live, work and play, we must make sure:

  • all new developments contribute towards the creation of healthy communities
  • all new developments are sustainable
  • the identity of Thurrock as a place remains strong
