Finding childcare

You can search for different types of childcare in your area using our Ask Thurrock young people and families directory.

These include:

• childminders
• pre-school playgroups
• day nurseries
• maintained school nurseries
• out of school clubs, including breakfast and after school clubs
• holiday schemes

Providers are registered and inspected by Ofsted.

Family information and advice

Our Family Information Service (FIS) can also provide information and advice on a wide range of family services, including:

• help paying for childcare
• parent and toddler groups
• activity clubs
• parenting and family support
• prevention and support services
• youth clubs and services
• special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) – our 'Local Offer'

Your local children’s centre is a great place to go to meet other parents and join in with the play groups and support groups. Some even offer a parent's cafe and courses for you to take. Find out more about children’s centres.
