Publication date:

Request:

1. I would like the FOI report regarding the amount of money that went into the planning, purchasing and installation of Christmas or festive holiday lights (usually displayed in November) for Grays town. I would like this information for years 2015-2019, for each individual year. If you have to provide the information as financial years, that is possible, with it beginning as April 2014 - April 2015, and 2019 being April until present.

3. I would like the FOI report regarding the amount of money that went into the planning, purchasing and installation of Christmas or festive holiday lights (usually displayed in November) for Thurrock as a whole. I would like this information for years 2015-2019, for each individual year. Response:

1.

2015 to 2018 = £10,300 per annum

2019 = £9,238.43

2. We can only comment on the amounts the council has provided - we provided a CEDF grant to Stanford le Hope for £9,000 towards the purchase of lights in 2018/19

We have not provided any funding to Chadwell St Mary, they do not have Christmas lights

South Ockendon has largely funded its own Christmas lights

Thurrock Council have made small pockets of contribution to Purfleet, South Ockendon and Tibury in the past, however this will not be the case going forward and we would encourage communities to look at local enterprises and businesses to sponsor such events if future requests are made. A smaller commitment to Tilbury has been made for this year and we have advised that future requests will not be agreed.
