Homelessness assistance

17. Since 1st April 2020, how many people have approached the council for help with homelessness or the threat of homelessness under the Homelessness Reduction Act?

18. How many of the people who approached the council since 1st April 2020 for help with homelessness or the threat of homelessness under the Homelessness Reduction Act (i.e. the question 17 figure) have been assessed by the council to be 'threatened with homelessness'?

10. Yes

11. As at 5th July 2020 the Council has 9721 Active tenants

12. As at 5th July 2020 Thurrock Council have 2844 tenancies in arrears in excess of £100.00

13. As at 5th July 2020 there are 2615 tenants receiving Universal Credit

14. As at 5th July 1389 tenants in receipt of UC are in arrears in excess of £100.00

Discretionary Housing Payments

15. Government Grant for 2020/2021 is £653,645

16. We have awarded so far £159,875

Homelessness assistance

17. As of 3 August 2020 519 households have approached the service for general advice and assistance

18. Of these approaches, the Housing Solutions team were satisfied that 71 were threatened with homelessness

19. Of these approaches, the Housing Solutions team were satisfied that 108 households were homeless in the first instance.
