Coronavirus (COVID-19) – libraries

Belhus library, Corringham library and Grays library have reopened. Other libraries remain closed until further notice. You can access newspapers and magazines, get e-books and e-audio and take part in job club sessions online.

Go to our coronavirus (COVID-19) safety page for information on visiting re-opened libraries and items due for return. Items due between 1 January and 31 July have had their loan dates extended automatically to 1 September. Please do not put borrowed items in library book drops or letterboxes.

Free online courses

Your local Thurrock library will give you access to "Universal Class" on the internet. This is an online service which has a wide range of courses. It also has a real tutor who will assess your work.

More than 500 courses are available, covering subjects such as:

  • office skills
  • psychology
  • crafts
  • creative writing
  • cookery
  • management skills
  • sciences
  • computer skills
  • photography

All you need is a library card (free), an email address and access to a computer, which you can get in any Thurrock library.
