Music education

Festivals, events and performances

We hold 2 main music festivals each year.

Infant Music Festival

The Thurrock Infant Music Festival is held annually for key stage 1 pupils who attend infant or primary schools in the borough. The event is popular with children and adults alike.

Prior to the event, schools are invited to help their pupils learn a selection of songs based on a relevant and exciting theme. All participating schools are provided with a recording of the accompaniments for each song and we offer additional teaching support.

Each participating school also chooses an individual song that is performed at part of the event.

Junior Music Festival

The Thurrock Junior Music Festival is held annually for key stage 2 pupils who attend schools within the borough. Like the Infant Music Festival, the event is popular with children and adults alike.

Other events

We run a number of showcase events throughout the year. These include performance opportunities such as orchestral concerts, Live Lounge events, and joint services events with Barking and Dagenham Music Services and Havering Music Services.

We work in partnership with the Rotary Club of Grays on the Thurrock young musician of the year event.
