The call for sites is the chance for individuals and organisations to suggest sites in Thurrock that they feel may have potential for:
- housing development
- Gypsy, traveller and travelling show people pitches
- employment use
- retail use
- community use, including health, education, sports and leisure facilities
- mineral extraction
- waste management
Our 2016 call for sites has ended. We will still accept new site submissions but these will not be assessed until early 2018.
A new formal call for sites will take place later in February 2018.
After a site has been submitted
If you have previously suggested a site and would like to update the information that we hold about it, you can contact us direct:
The call for sites itself will not decide whether a site should be allocated for development. An assessment of all sites and submitted information will be carried out before any decision is taken, which may lead to us asking for more information.
The most appropriate, deliverable sites will be taken forward in the Local Plan, and we will invite comments on them as part of the Local Plan consultation process.
It is unlikely that all the sites put forward will be included in the emerging Local Plan. We will explain why some sites are not included when we publish our housing and employment land availability assessments and other background evidence reports.
