This week Thurrock Council launched its new Shop Safe, Shop Local campaign with the support of independent businesses in Thurrock, to inspire residents across the borough to shop local and shop safely.
The council filmed a series of short Shop Local and Shop Safe videos in collaboration with businesses across Thurrock, which will be showcased over the coming months, with plans already underway to work with even more businesses throughout Christmas and the New Year.
Cllr Mark Coxshall, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Strategic Planning and External Relationships, said: "Small businesses are the beating heart of our towns, and they have done an incredible job so far to welcome shoppers back safely. Shop Safe, Shop Local is an important campaign to encourage more people to return to shopping locally, in a way that is safe and gives them confidence, and supports our high streets. Shopping local helps support Thurrock’s economy, creates jobs and boosts local communities.
"I'm really pleased so many owners and colleagues of family-run and independent businesses across the borough have backed our campaign and I thank them for their support."
Niki at Uniforms by Niki, Linford, who is supporting the campaign, added: "We always want our customers to feel safe... we're always here to make you comfortable and we're always here to help.
"It's amazing what shopping local can do. It does help the area thrive, to grow and also brings the community together. We're always here with a listening ear."
