Thurrock Council is hosting a number of events in Grays as part of International Women's Day on Thursday 8 March.
The theme of this year’s events is #PressForProgress, asking everyone to take positive action that truly drives the greatest change for women.
At the Old Courthouse, a seminar will explore inspirational women in business and equality in the workplace. This free session runs from 10am to 1pm – tickets can be booked in advance at Eventbrite: International Women's Day at The Old Courthouse.
This year will also see the launch of 'This Girl Can' in Thurrock. The ground-breaking campaign is helping millions of women across the country to overcome the fear of judgement when exercising, and inspiring women to help lead the pack by becoming 'This Girl Can' ambassadors.
The launch will also showcase some of the exciting fitness and exercise sessions available across the borough. You can book tickets in advance for free to find out about classes available across the borough – go to Eventbrite: This Girl Can - Thurrock
Residents are invited to come along to Committee Room 1, Civic Offices to talk directly with local services that are helping women to take positive action for change. The Thurrock Heritage Volunteers will be showcasing a free exhibition of World War 1 Women and the Centenary of the Vote – representatives from 'This Girl Can' will be attending too. The event takes place from 1pm to 4pm and is free to attend.
