Thurrock Fostering are holding an in-person information event on Monday 28 February, 6pm to 8pm at The Orsett Hall Hotel, Orsett, RM16 3HS.
Cllr Barry Johnson, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "Local Foster Carers in Thurrock make a huge difference to the lives of the borough's children and young people by opening their home and family to a child who needs one.
"Thurrock Fostering welcomes people from all backgrounds to join them, regardless of their ethnicity or sexuality, relationship status or if they already have children or not.
"Becoming a Thurrock Foster Carer with the council provides a much more successful outcome for children when compared to residential or high cost placements, which can cost in excess of £20,000 a week."
One of our current Fosters Carers shared her story: "I am a 30 year-old single mum with 3 children myself and have been registered to foster a further 2 children for 2 years now. During this time I have had the privilege of being able to welcome many children into my family and to provide them with love and care. It makes me so happy to watch every new child grow and develop as a little person, and to see how much joy they bring to my own children's lives.
"Thurrock Fostering ensure I always feel supported and part of a team who really want the best for me, my family and the children I foster, allowing us to make trips to the park, have Sunday lunches and movie nights and in my work I have never been happier. Being a single mum is always a balancing act, but becoming a Foster Carer has given me the freedom to focus on family, adding new personalities and new adventures along the way."
