Thurrock Fostering is holding virtual information sessions on Saturday 27 June and Wednesday 29 July. These sessions will allow participants to see a short presentation, speak to the fostering recruitment team and have questions answered by foster carers from the comfort of your own home.
Cllr James Halden, Cabinet member for children and adult social care, said: "Thurrock Fostering is always looking for more foster carers in and around Thurrock who can care for those children and young people most in need. It is such a rewarding thing to do.
"We value our foster carers and, as part of the council’s programme of benefits, a new payment scheme has recently launched. In addition, Thurrock foster carers will be the first choice for placements and will receive comprehensive training, an extensive support network, membership to The Fostering Network, your own Supervising Social Worker, a buddy system, 24-hour telephone support and more."
An current Thurrock foster carer said: "We are really pleased that we chose to foster with Thurrock Fostering as its part of a small local authority and is much more personal being supported by the fostering team but also other foster carers. Originally we were considering an agency, however we chose Thurrock as we found there was greater opportunities to access local support, and short timescales for placements. We are passionate about getting involved in all aspects of foster care, supporting others and helping recruit new foster carers that are so desperately needed."
The virtual information sessions are being held via Zoom on:
- Saturday 27 June, from 10am to midday, presentation starts at 10:05am
- Wednesday 29 July, from 6pm to 8pm, presentation starts at 6:05pm
