Performance and satisfaction are pinnacle of housing report

Housing performance and tenant satisfaction continue to improve and build on recent success that Thurrock Council has had in key housing services as it supports tenants and residents across the borough.

The percentage of repairs completed on time achieved an impressive 98% in 2020/21, and more than 75% of tenants reported being "very satisfied" or "fairly satisfied" with the neighbourhoods and services offered through monthly tenant satisfaction surveys.

Satisfaction levels with Transforming Homes works remained high at 86% after the programme benefitted from more than £70million investment since 2013, bringing improvements to more than 9,000 council homes.

Cllr Luke Spillman, Cabinet member for housing, presented the latest housing report at a meeting of Council. He said: "2020/21 is the strongest performing year for overall tenant satisfaction since measuring tenant satisfaction began in 2013/14. Year-on-year the housing service continues to improve and deliver for our residents and I’m impressed with the continued determination and hard work of the team.

"In the last 12 months, we’ve handed over the keys to 82 high-quality council homes and work is underway to hand over 35 more properties in Tilbury later this year. Building the right infrastructure and homes for Thurrock residents is a priority and we will continue to explore new and innovative ways to meet targets."

Tenant satisfaction improvements were also recorded across several service areas including ground maintenance, caretaking, and value for money all increasing year-on-year. In addition, more than 77% of tenants also found the council kept them informed including via the service’s tenant and leaseholder electronic newsletter and the launch of a new online housing resident portal.
