Plans for the next stage of consultation for the Local Plan will be discussed at Planning, Transportation, Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Wednesday 4 July.
Cllr Mark Coxshall, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, said: "The next stage of the Local Plan, called the 'issues and options' consultation, is all about seeking the views of our communities and key stakeholders about how Thurrock should develop and grow in the future.
"This stage of the consultation process is not agreeing how many homes will be built or where they will be going. We are asking residents for their views on the types of locations for new housing, for example through expanding existing towns and the reuse and redevelopment of previously developed land – 'brownfield' sites.
"The consultation is not about agreeing or promoting specific sites, it's about identifying where developers or landowners have said they want to build housing, and making this information available for residents to have their say on.
"We need to make sure that the borough grows in a way that is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable and that the necessary supporting infrastructure in place to meet the demands of our increasing population."
