Thurrock Council's planning team has been short-listed for another national award.
The council, which is already a finalist in the Local Authority Planning Team of the Year category for next month’s Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2019, is now also short-listed for the Planning Awards 2019.
The team is a finalist in the Award for Partnership Working category, with the ceremony taking place in London in June.
The nomination is in recognition of the shared service arrangement between Thurrock Council and Brentwood Borough Council, which it describes as: "a real example of local authority joint working, designed not just to make savings but to deliver improved services for local communities".
Particular recognition is given to the flexibility of the arrangement, which allows planners to work across both councils and meet recruitment challenges by developing staff from within.
