Disability Living Allowance (DLA) has changed to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from April 2013 for people aged 16 to 64
PIP has started to replace DLA for people with a long-term health condition or disability aged 16 to 64. This means the introduction of stricter assessments to decide eligibility. The main aim of this is to help decide the person's need as a result of the disability rather than making decision based on the disability itself.
Unlike DLA, PIP will be reviewed regularly to see that there is still a need for this help.
Between October 2013 and March 2016 all existing people aged 16 to pension age receiving DLA will be written to about claiming the new benefit.
