Audit of Accounts 2020/21
Statement of Public Rights
Under the requirement of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and in line with the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 (Revised) and the Accounts and Audit (Coronavirus) Amendments Regulations 2021 (SI2021/263).
Please note: the public inspection period for 2020/21 has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The period for the exercise of public rights under the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 is normally required to include the first 10 working days of June; this requirement has been suspended for the accounting period ending 31 March 2021 resulting in a public inspection commencing no later than 1 August 2021.
As the authority are planning to have issued its 2020/21 accounts on 31 July 2021, the inspection period must therefore commence on 1 August 2021.
Public Inspection Period Notice is hereby given that for the 30 working days between 1 August 2021 and 13 September 2021 (inclusive) between 9:30am and 4:30pm any person interested may inspect and make copies of the accounts of Thurrock Council for the year ended 31 March 2021 and all related books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts.
The accounts and other documents will be available for inspection at the offices at which they are normally kept, or otherwise by arrangement. Applications should be made initially to Corporate Finance, Thurrock Council, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or by emailing email@example.com
If you have any questions or objections these should be addressed to our engagement lead for the audit, Mrs Rachel Brittain of BDO LLP, 16 The Havens, Ransomes Europark, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 9SJ or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
No objection may be made unless BDO LLP has previously received written notice of the proposed objection and its grounds. A copy of that notice must also be sent to the council's Solicitor (Monitoring Officer), Thurrock Council, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or by emailing email@example.com.
